Isaiah Pineiro is a professional basketball player who plays for VEF Riga in Latvia and the Puerto Rican Men’s National Team. He previously played for the Stockton Kings in the NBA G League. He competed for the Puerto Rican National Team at the FIBA World Cup in China in 2019. Prior to that, he competed for the University of San Diego where he was twice 1st Team All-Conference in the West Coast Conference before graduating in 2019.

 

Mr. Pineiro’s star has risen rapidly. Since he turned professional in the summer of 2019, he has been invited to compete in multiple celebrity and professional events including the 3x3U National Championship in Minneapolis, the FIBA World Cup, and the FIBA AmeriCup. In addition, he has received invitations to serve as an athlete ambassador for gaming app Yoke and to endorse Jabra Headphones and a California apparel brand.

 

Given his rising status as both a professional athlete and a public figure in Puerto Rico, Mr. Pineiro sought to develop his personal brand by developing his own logo and website. DataDay Design began designing his logo and website in June 2020. After the success of our initial work, Mr. Pineiro again contracted DataDay Design in September 2020, this time to manage his white label brand and drop shipping.

 

After creative and logistic discussions with Mr. Pineiro, in which we determined his goals and personal style, our team of designers, analysts, and developers set out to bring his visions to reality. Based on our discussions, we identified three key focus areas:

 

  1. Build a personal logo that focused on Mr. Pineiro’s nickname, “IP”, alluded to his loyalty to the Puerto Rican national team, and communicated his desire to always improve as an athlete and person.
  2. A sleek, simple to navigate website that would monetize his following and give fans the ability to follow him on social media and watch his games.
  3. Develop merchandise that contributed to his personal brand by showcasing causes and ideals Mr. Pineiro is passionate about.

Mr. Pineiro wanted a logo that paid homage to his Puerto Rican heritage, so we tied in the colors of the flag. Because he is constantly looking to improve, we utilized cut lines and a gradient at the bottom of “IP” to indicate a constant rise. The ‘P’ is also shaped like an arrow to symbolize the need to always move forward, no matter the obstacle.

Linking to the VEF Riga live stream for games was a no brainer. The best athletes show their fan base that they’re driven to get results. What better way to highlight Mr. Pineiro’s commitment to the sport than by connecting fans with his latest stats and gameplay.

The Instagram feed on Mr. Pineiro’s site is something he specifically requested. With an extremely engaged following on social media, it was clear that the easier fans can get to know him and follow his everyday life, the stronger his brand would be.
